Invasive Species

“To love a place is not enough. We must find ways to heal it.

Robin Wall Kimmerer

Invasive species is a term biologists use to label a species that is detrimental to an ecosystem, that has arrived in an ecosystem ahead of a natural timeline.

Our team works hard to locate populations of invasive species, and eradicate them from our coastal wetlands, prairies, forests, and surrounding habitats.

At the Detroit River-Western Lake Erie Cooperative Weed Management, we search for over 30 species of invasive plants.
